April 2026 Quarterly Update

Between January and March 2026;

  • The Community Pantry has supported a total of 1,169 individuals.
  • The Community Pantry supported an average of 106 individuals, from an average of 38 households each week.
  • 6,447 food items were distributed with a total estimated value of $22,235.
  • Approximately 1.2 tonnes of fresh fruit, vegetables and bread (received through our partnership with Geelong Foodshare) were also given out.

One of our clients says this:
“Being able to access the pantry has been such a help over the last 18+ months. It has allowed us to have access to more food, especially meat (mince and chicken). Being able to come, socialise, and connect with others is a highlight alongside the pantry and what it provides”

Fundraiser Updates

During this quarter, we ran two different fundraising events, a Bunnings Sausage Sizzle in January and a highway collection in February. Through these fundraisers we were able to raise a total of $3,778.

We had groups of volunteers from both Gateway Stronger Communities and Gateway Church Geelong participate in these events. A huge thank you to all our volunteers!

We also wanted to express our heartfelt thanks to the Kiwanis Geelong team who brought their experience and expertise in helping with our first sausage sizzle.

How can you help?

Would you consider partnering with us weekly or monthly?

$25/week provides support for a smaller household of 2-3 people with self-select items.

$40+/week provides support for a larger household of 5-6 people with self-select items.

Donations over $2 are tax-deductible.

Looking Forward

As the high cost of living continues to impact many individuals and families, we consistently see new households present to the Community Pantry for support. Therefore, we are committed to building greater efficiency, sustainability and longevity within our operations, through optimising systems as well as exploring additional fundraising options and revenue streams. We are also continuing to develop pathways for building capacity in volunteers through additional training.

Once again, our sincerest thanks to you!

Thank you for your continued support of Gateway Stronger Communities Initiative. Your partnership is having a significant, positive impact in strengthening and caring for our community.
